Constance (Connie) Ghee was born on October 9, 1947, to the late Frank and Jeanne Morris in the close-knit American Addition community of Columbus, Ohio. She was one of nine siblings and shared an especially close bond with her beloved twin sister, Cynthia.
Connie attended Pilgrim Elementary School and graduated from East High School in 1965. After marrying Rueben Ghee, she relocated to Detroit, Michigan, where the couple sought greater employment opportunities. In September 1979, Connie returned to Columbus, continuing to build a life rooted in purpose, family, and faith.
A woman of many talents and entrepreneurial spirit, Connie was widely known for her determination and creativity. She later pursued her passion for cosmetology, graduating from cosmetology school and styling hair in several salons before welcoming clients into her home. There, she became known not only for her skill, but also for her warmth, kindness, and welcoming spirit.
Connie dedicated 24 years of faithful service to the Children's Hospital Guidance Center before retiring. Her strong work ethic and integrity were evident in all that she did. She lived an honest and principled life-famously turning down a free cable hookup because she believed it was wrong. That was simply who Connie was: genuine, ethical, and kind at heart.
In the fall of 1985, Connie joined Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a choir member. Her love for the Lord and devotion to her church family remained steadfast throughout her life.
A gifted homemaker and creative soul, Connie loved gardening, sewing, and crafting. She created beautiful ornaments, baskets, and wreaths, often selling her work at events held at the Martin Luther King Center on Mount Vernon Avenue. She lovingly designed prom dresses and special occasion outfits for many. Connie was also known for her exceptional cooking, proudly preparing homemade meals filled with love and care.
Travel brought Connie great joy, especially cruising. She had the opportunity to visit several European countries, embracing each experience with excitement and gratitude.
Above all, Connie cherished her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, known for her steady kindness and warm smile. No matter what challenges she faced, Connie remained cheerful and compassionate-you would never know if she was having a difficult day.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rueben Ghee; her parents, Frank and Jeanne Morris; her brothers, Gregory Morris and Frank Morris, Jr.; her twin sister, Cynthia Daniels and brothers-in-law: Calton Daniels and Curtis Cooper.
Connie leaves to cherish her memory her children: Michael (Nancy) Ghee, Jeffrey Ghee, Lisa (Frank) Ghee‑Brown, and Tanisha Anderson; her siblings: Marcia Morris, Frankielynn (Andre) Garner, Christine Cooper, Stacy Morris, and Stephanie Morris; her special cousin, Cassandra (Thomas) Foy; her grandchildren: Monikka Jenkins, Michelle Brown, Darrelle Brown, Michael Ghee, Jr., Earnest Higginbotham III, and Jaylyn Ferrell; ten great‑grandchildren; two great‑great‑grandchildren; and a host of loving extended family and dear friends.
Connie's life was one of faith, love, integrity, and steadfast devotion to family. Her legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her
