Dionne Linette Stewart, born March 18, 1970, in Lima, Ohio, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with Sickle Cell Disease. She transitioned from this life with her beloved sister Toni holding her hand and her devoted daughter by her side-a reflection of the deep love and connection she shared with her family.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Larry J. Stewart and Geraldine V. Allen, and was also preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Josephine Johnson and Clinton and Bernice Upshaw.
Dionne was a devoted and nurturing mother to her children, Adrianna Durr and Alijah Durr. Her heart extended beyond biological ties, as she lovingly embraced her stepson, Dominique Durr, as her own. One of her proudest roles was raising her granddaughter, Alexis MacKenzie whom she cherished and loved deeply.
She is survived by her two beloved sisters, Melody Tucker and Dr. Toni Stewart, with whom she shared an unbreakable and lifelong bond. Dionne was more than an aunt to her nieces and nephews-Brittany, Joshua, Talor, Caleb, and Erin-she was a second mother, offering guidance, support, and unconditional love.
Dionne grew up surrounded by love and lasting friendships, especially with her godbrothers Vasquez, Mendiz, and DeMarco Thompson. She and Mendiz shared a special connection as fellow middle children. She also held close to her heart her goddaughters, Kaytlyn Gunn and Courtney Parson, whom she adored.
Raised on the South Side of Lima, Dionne formed lifelong friendships with Sandy Brown, Nicole McLaurin, Valerie Hutchins Mooney, and Leslie Spaulding-women who remained by her side through every chapter of life.
Her faith was rooted at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ at the age of 11 under the leadership of Rev. Kelley. In her youth, Dionne brought joy and energy to everything she did-skating at Greenlawn Roller Rink, cheering for the Panthers, dancing with the Valley Girls, and showing school spirit with the South Jr. High Tigers Pep Squad.
Dionne was a passionate fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and never missed an opportunity to show her support. Her deep love for family eventually led her to move from Lima to Columbus, Ohio, to stay close to her sister Toni, a decision that brought her great comfort and joy.
She was a dedicated and respected employee of T. Marzetti for over two decades, known for her strong work ethic, positive spirit, and commitment to excellence.
Though she battled Sickle Cell Disease throughout her life, Dionne never let it define her. Her perseverance, loving heart, and enduring faith made her a light to everyone she encountered.
Dionne Linette Stewart's life was a powerful testimony of love, resilience, and faith. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
