Donald Daniel Douglas, Jr., affectionately known as "Duck," was called home on August 17, 2026, at the age of 64.
Donald was born in Ravenna, Ohio, on March 30, 1962, to Mary E. Wright (Jones) and Donald Daniel Douglas, Sr.
Donald attended Kent City Schools and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1980. He proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1992. Donald was employed by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction for more than 30 years, retiring in December 2024. He also worked for the Columbus Metropolitan Library for many years.
An avid sports fan, Donald especially loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports, and he took great pride in being there to cheer them on from the sidelines. He was also a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan-that was his team, win or lose.
Above all, Donald was a family man. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, he believed in showing up for the people he loved. He was protective of his family, proud of them, and wanted those he loved to always feel seen, valued, and supported.
Whether it was a family gathering, celebration, sporting event, or simply someone who needed him, you could count on Donald being there. His love extended beyond his immediate family, and throughout his life, he became a second father and father figure to many.
And if Donald loved you, you knew it. He was always checking in. His calls may not have been long, but he made them-just to see how you were doing and to tell you he loved you. And if you didn't answer, he would call someone else to make sure they had heard from you. That was Donald. He stayed connected and made sure his people were okay.
"Duck" was a hardworking man and devoted provider who took pride in caring for his family. He was generous, charismatic, funny, and simply fun to be around. His presence could fill a room, and his warmth and humor brought people together. He loved big, laughed often, and created countless memories that his family and friends will carry with them forever.
Donald was preceded in death by his mother: Mary (Jones) Wright; father: Donald Daniel Douglas, Sr.; sisters: Rosetta Tucker, Frances (Emma) Boykin, and Theresa Wright; nephews: Billy Tucker and Todd Burrell; and niece: Pamela Milton.
Donald leaves to cherish his memory his devoted Wife: Karen; Daughters: Amber (Mike) James and Tayelore Douglas; Son: Donald Daniel Douglas III "Danny" (Tiauna), all of Columbus, Ohio; Stepson: Milo Adams of Cincinnati, Ohio; Sisters: Carmen Douglas and Terri (Tony) Burrell of Kent, Ohio; Grandchildren: Jeremiah, Aria, Tyler, Mitayah, Saniyah, and Sir Donald; Special Friends: Gary Milton and Charles Peoples; his Pickaway County Corrections family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and all those who were blessed to call him family.
Donald "Duck" Douglas will be deeply missed, and the love, laughter, and memories he leaves behind will live on through all who knew and loved him.
