Doris Jean Jacox

December 15, 1940 — April 10, 2026

Doris Jean Jacox (Bullock) was born in Jacksonville, Tennessee, to her loving mother, Mattie Bullock, and father, James Bullock. From an early age, she carried a deep thirst for knowledge and a natural curiosity about the world—qualities that stayed with her throughout her life.

She was a lifelong learner who loved history and had a deep appreciation for understanding how things came to be. She pursued that passion at The Ohio State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, the study of plants. Her love for growth and cultivation was not only reflected in her studies, but in the way she nurtured those around her.

Doris dedicated many years of service to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. During her time there, she became known for her remarkable insight, intuition, and wisdom—often seeing what others could not. She played an instrumental role in implementing improvements to workflow that expedited product retrieval and enhanced safety, leaving a lasting impact through her diligence, innovation, and commitment to excellence.

Above all, Doris loved the Lord. Her faith was the foundation of her life and guided her in all that she did. A devoted member of Holy Ghost Revival Center, she found joy and strength in the Word of God. She loved the Bible deeply and carried its teachings in her heart. Those who knew her often said she “had a scripture for everything,” offering encouragement, guidance, and truth right on time.

She was incredibly resourceful, able to navigate life’s challenges with both grace and determination. She had a candid spirit—honest, straightforward, and genuine—paired with a wisdom far beyond her years. People were naturally drawn to her for advice, trusting her insight and steady perspective. Her presence brought clarity, comfort, and strength to those around her.

Doris was also a natural educator, especially to her children, always helping, guiding, and encouraging them in school and in life. In her personal time, she found joy in writing, authoring many passages that reflected her thoughts, her faith, and her understanding of the world. She was also a published author of Palm Creek’s Treasure, leaving behind a lasting expression of her voice and creativity.

Doris will be remembered for her sharp mind, her unwavering faith, and the quiet yet powerful way she touched the lives of others. She leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, resilience, and spiritual strength that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mattie Bullock; her daughter, Kim Bullock; her son, Richard (Della) Bullock; her brother, Glenn; and her sisters, Jamesetta, Bonnie, and Eliza.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Debra (Murphy) Sealey; her sons, Terence (Nikki) Jacox and Corey (Tiffany) Jacox; her siblings, Yvonne Smith, Constance (Walter) Jackson, Samuel (Annie) Bullock, and Kathryn (Herbert) Anderson; and her beloved grandchildren, Michael (Bethany) Jacox, Marcus Jacox, Cameron Jacox, Reiona Jacox, Gannon Jacox, Neveah Bullock, Kierra Bullock, Chayce Jacox, Jaeden Smith, Chloe Jacox, and Jaleel (Kylie) Smith.

She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Justice, Kayci, Michael, Zaria, Carmyn, Christian, DJ, and Oliver, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will continue to carry her love forward.

May her memory be a source of comfort, and may her life remain an enduring testament to faith, wisdom, and the power of a life devoted to learning and love.
