Elbert "Jay" Johnson. Sunrise: May 19, 1940 and Sunset: April 16, 2026. Jay lived a full and remarkable life. He touched the lives of everyone he met. He dedicated his life to the electrical trade, where he was known as a skilled and independable master electrician. He then passed down his knowledge and skills to his son's, grandsons and all their friends. Giving them something valuable they could carry with them for life. Beyond work Jay enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
He achieved many awards with one of them being "Lifetime Achievement Awards" W/ The West Virginia Hall of Fame all black school sports and academic. (Genoa/Park Central High School). He was also known for his sense of humor and broad personality. He was a man of great character and unconditional love.
Jay was a true provider, guider, protector, and a great example of an honorable man. Truly one of a kind.
Jay is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Joyce Johnson; his siblings, Tommy Johnson, Gwendolyn Rowe, Annie Carter (Glen), and Jacqueline Johnson; his children, Clayton Johnson, Lamerr Johnson (Candy), John Henry White, Dailene Carroll, Kristen Johnson and Brittany Johnson; his loving 37 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; as well as several other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Cora Mae Stepney; and his siblings, James Johnson, Oliver Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Marguerite Harshaw Delores Turner, Virginia Davis, Shirley Street and Rosa Posley.
