Ella Ethel Smith

Ella Ethel Smith, born July 14, 1925, in Durham, NC to Lawrence and Ella Monteeth, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at age 101.

She loved to cook and feed her family, she loved 3D puzzles, crocheting were her hobbies for many years. Then hobbies changed to reading gossip magazines like The Enquire, the paper and People magazine to keep up with what was going on. She loved to watch Perry Mason and could sit for hours to watch episodes from the past.

Her favorite foods were fish, fruit and milk shakes, you would know it was good when she started humming.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband: James Robert Smith; her daughter: Faith Jones; and son: Jerry Smith along with her sisters: Rosie M. Lyon, Sarah Lee Monteeth-Kiser and Susan Lee Lacy.

She leaves to cherish her memory Daughter: Eleanor (Cobb) Smith. She also leaves to cherish her memory Grandsons: Aaron Smith, Shawn Jones and Chris Jones, and Granddaughter: Kathryn Cobb. She also leaves behind her loving Niece Carolyn (Bobby) Robertson; several Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins that will also miss her dearly.
