Ewing L.C. Green Sr. of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on January 23, 1935, he was the son of the late Samuel and Flora B. Herndon Green.
From a young age, Ewing had a deep passion for all sports, especially basketball. One of his most cherished memories was his time as a member of the Horse Cave High Tigers basketball team. After high school, Ewing proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years. After his distinguished military retirement, he spent the next two decades connecting with his community as a driver for the Columbus, Ohio, Transit Authority (COTA). This role allowed him to continue meeting and talking with new people daily, a testament to his engaging personality.
Ewing was a man universally known for his infectious smile, charisma, and profound love for his family.
Ewing was preceded in death by five brothers, Arlander Lawlis, James Green, Elverse Green, Amos Green, and Alonzo Green; four sisters, Syvella B. Curry, Goldie Green, Nancy Kelly, and Ruth Maxey; and one daughter, Felicia Green.
He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory: Three Daughters: Celina Hairston (MC), Sherrie Bethea (Al), and Cassandra Allen.One Son: Ewing L.C. Green Jr.Three Grandchildren: Tyler Grace, Chloe Hale, and Carver (Douglas) Ealy Jr.
The family extends its sincere appreciation to his dear and special best friend, Suzanne Hairston, for her dedicated friendship, time, thoughtfulness, and love shown, especially throughout his final moments.
