Florence Rogers-Adams was born on September 18, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio; and passed away on June 26, 2025. She grew up in “Flytown,” attended what was then referred to as Columbus Public Schools including Everett Junior High School and graduated from Central High School in 1957. She had an impressive work history with the State of Ohio; having worked for the Technical Institute of Columbus Ohio (T.I.C.O.) and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (formerly Bureau of Employment Services) and retired in 2001 as a Claims Examiner after 44 years of service.
Florence loved the outdoors, traveling, singing, and playing the piano. With a heart of gold, she loved everyone and was always willing to help others. She was adored by her neighbors for the Queen she was and was affectionately called “FloJo.”
Florence loved the Lord. She grew up praising the Lord at Liberty Hill Baptist which was then located on East Second Avenue in the Milo Grogan District area. At an early age, she participated in the choir, played piano, ushered, taught Sunday School, and participated in many youth activities. She later became a member of Trinity Baptist Church and regularly attended services until her health began to fail.
Florence was preceded in death by her beloved parents Herman Sr. and Lena Kate Reeves; brother Herman Reeves, Jr., nephews Richard Rodgers Jr. and William Campbell; nieces Brenda Rodgers and Deborah Reeves Quayson. Left to cherish her memory are her children Antoinette Savage, Richardo Rogers, Vera Rogers, Tamitri Rogers, Derek M. Rogers and Yolanda Rogers. Grandchildren Rashard Mills, Brittany Rogers, Brian Rogers and Derek Rogers, Sisters Rosa Rodgers, Pearl Washington, Helen Reeves, and Diane (Thomas) Ford. Also 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special caregivers Roxanne Green, Ethel Johnson, and Terri Robinson.
