Freida L Watkins

Dec 26, 1950 — Jul 5, 2026

Freida (Shelton) Watkins passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of William L. Shelton and Susie (Emery) Shelton. She is the last of four siblings: Beverly (Brian) Corvet, David Atkins, and Freddie "40" Going North, her twin bonus sister, Collette Green.

To know Freida was to love her, like her, maybe dislike her... she embraced it all with a grain of salt, or everything she had. She wasn't the life of the party; she was the party that had dance moves that would win her "Dancing with the Stars (smile).

A fierce, virtuous woman who loved to laugh, especially when she had "A headache." Growing up, she was always Aunt Frieda, even though the family tree says she was my cousin. Because my mother was an only child, Collette was the fifth sibling of Aunt Beverly, Uncle David, Aunt Frieda, and Uncle Freddie.

She was preceded in death by her uncle T's prize possession and Michael Shelton-Watkins, Beverly and Brian Corvet, David Atkins, Collette Green, and Fred Shelton.

Frieda leaves to cherish the memory of her Husband: Thomas Watkins, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, great-nephews and great-nieces, with two being very special: Ramona (Green) Walker and Ashley Gregory and Special Friend: Cheryl Lawson.

Whether you were descendants Rosa (Robert) Emery - the stump of the tree that started us all, Luvenia (Scoop) Lane, Susie Shelton, Alberta Emery, or Romain (Ike) Maze, she loved us all.

I believe in her own words, she would have chosen "Ta Ta for now."
