Obituary

Today we gather to celebrate the beautiful life of Georgina “GeeGee” McGill—a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, devoted friend, and a woman whose love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

GeeGee lived life with a spirit that was uniquely her own. She was wonderfully sassy, quick-witted, and always had the perfect comeback that could make you laugh even when you were trying to stay serious. Her sense of humor was one of her greatest gifts, and she never met a stranger she couldn’t brighten with a smile, a joke, or a little playful sass.

If you knew GeeGee, you also knew one thing for certain—she may not have always arrived on time, but she was going to show up. Whether it was a family gathering, a celebration, or simply being there for someone who needed her, she made sure she came. Her presence was what mattered, and when she arrived, she brought laughter, love, and warmth with her.

More than anything, GeeGee had a heart for people. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, and stand beside those she loved during life’s hardest moments. She gave freely of herself, never expecting anything in return, and her kindness will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched.

Family was GeeGee’s greatest treasure and her greatest joy. Nothing made her happier than spending time with those she loved, watching her family grow, celebrating milestones, and creating memories that will forever be cherished. Her love was unconditional, and she made sure every member of her family knew they were deeply loved.

She was preceded in death by her loving father, George McGill Sr.; her mother, Hazel Cole; and her sister, Debbie Gordon.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, Armon McGill; her daughters-in-love Josephine and Angela Madison. She also leaves her cherished siblings, Marilyn Mitchell, Denise King, and George McGill Jr. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Alexus McGill, Malachi McGill; Grandchildren-in-love: Dallas Scott Jr., Jason Muse, Imani Madison, Je’Asia Madison, Semaj Bernard, and Kingston Bernard, as well as her precious great-grandchildren, Addison and Christynn Early.

She also leaves behind a lifelong friends who became family, Lizzie Crowell and her sister cousin Sherry McCullough, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever blessed by her love and friendship.

As we remember GeeGee, we find comfort in God’s promises: *“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.’ Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.”
