Geraldine Brown

Geraldine Malinda (“Bunchy”) Brown, 94, of Columbus, Ohio, transitioned on September 11, 2025, at home with her children by her side.

Geraldine was born in Petersburg, VA, on February 1, 1931, and was the youngest of five children. Her parents relocated to Ohio in 1942, where she graduated from Mingo Junction High School in 1949.

As a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist, she served on the Prayer Warriors Ministry, attended Sunday School faithfully, and the Wednesday evening Bible Study.

At her former church, Second Baptist in Steubenville, Ohio, she served on the Usher and Missionary Boards.

Geraldine was employed at Gahanna Children’s College, where she performed multiple duties, with bookkeeping being her favorite. She was also used as a Sales Representative at Treasure Island Department Store in Steubenville, Ohio.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Lee Brown, Jr, her parents, William I. and Virginia Spinner, one sister, Ethel Spinner Winfield, and three brothers, Leroy, William, and Clifton Spinner.

She leaves to cherish her memory eight children, Diane (Booker), Deborah, Larry, Donna, Denise (Warren), Percy III (Angenita), Lynwood (Carol), and Drena. She also leaves 28 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Geraldine will be missed by all those who loved her.
