Gloria Swanson Elder (Jenkins) was born on March 26, 1963, in Columbus, Ohio. Gloria was the cherished daughter of the late Mitchell Jenkins, Sr. and Frances Jenkins. She was the youngest of ten siblings. A woman of faith and grace, Gloria found solace in praising the Lord, embracing gospel music, showcasing her culinary talents, tending to her garden, seeking treasures at garage sales, and embracing life’s pleasures like conquering the odds at the casino. On April 15, 2024, at The Ohio State University James Hospital, Gloria, 61, went home to be with the Lord.
Gloria’s love for her family knew no bounds. She cherished her beloved husband, daughters, precious grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell Jenkins Sr. and Frances Jenkins; brothers, Rufus Jenkins, Ford Jenkins.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will live on through her husband, James Elder; daughters, Dawn Cardwell, April Cardwell, Robin Cardwell; former husband, Robert Cardwell; grandchildren, Kareem, Rodney, Koriawn, Thomawney, Semaj, D´awn, Semmion, Gloria, Semmier; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Russell and, Mi´Amor; sisters; Eunice Jennings, Eleanorene Johnson, Margaret Cardwell; and brothers, Mitchell Jenkins Jr., Leonidoff Jenkins (Gladys), Warren Jenkins (Charlene), and Frank Jenkins; a treasured cousin, Marva Hardiman, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will forever hold her memory close.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
