Gwendolyn Louise Wilson, 93 of Springfield, Ohio passed away April 18, 2026. She was born in Anniston, Alabama on June 8, 1932, to the late Troy Douglas Wattleton and Ruby L. Wattleton. She moved to Springfield Ohio at a young age with her mother and only brother.
Louise retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base after 44 years of service as a Base Education Officer. She was a graduate of Springfield South High School. She was a part of the Friends Club and was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was in the missionary ministry, sang in the choir, was part of the Sophisticated Ladies and sometimes worked in the kitchen, but where she shined was the kitchen at home. She was an exceptional cook, creating meals that became cherished memories for her family and friends. She received recognition for being one of the oldest members of the church. Louise came from humble beginnings as she always shared stories of growing up having to pull the wagon to collect coal for the furnace, empty the pot, and look after her brother. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Some of the things she enjoyed included cooking, crocheting, ceramics, word puzzles, and a daily dessert. Louise was an avid reader and loved the song "Blueberry Hill".
Louise met her husband Tom, a Lima guy, in Springfield and married shortly after in Indiana on August 16, 1952. To their union they welcomed Michael, Lisa, and Teresa.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, brother Doug Wattleton, and son in law Carlton Boddie.
She leaves behind her Children: Michael A. Wilson of Springfield, Ohio, Lisa C. Womack of Springfield Ohio and Teresa D. Boddie (Carlton) of Beavercreek Township; Five Grandchildren: Tynetta, Tommy, Jaye, Devin, and Chanice; Six Great-Grandchildren: Thomas, Isaac, Jazalynn, Destiny, Joseph and Nadia: Niece: LaDeedra Carlton; Nephew: Tommie Wattleton; Great-Nieces and Nephews; a Great-Great Niece; Cousins and special friends.
