Harold Melton Rutherford

May 29, 1943 — April 25, 2026

Harold Melton Rutherford, 82, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026. Born in Nebo, North Carolina, to the late Gilbert and Lottie O'Neal Rutherford, Harold was raised with strong values, a love for family, and a work ethic that stayed with him throughout life.

After graduating from Mountainview High School, he made his home in Columbus, where he owned and operated his own lawn care business until retirement. Harold took pride in his work, but even more in the people around him. Known for his warm spirit, good sense of humor, and willingness to help anyone in need, he had a way of making others feel welcome and cared for.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers: Lewis, Dan, Arel, Ed, Ezra Charles, Robert, and James Rutherford and two sisters: Elizabeth Rutherford-Francis and Ethel Rutherford-Avery.

He leaves to cherish his memory, Brother: Sidney Rutherford (wife Chrastal); his Wife: Luberta; his Daughters: Michelle, Andrea and Crystal; his Son: John and a host of Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and loved ones who will carry his memory forward.

Harold will be remembered for his big heart, easy smile and the many lives he touched.
