It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Howard Andrew Jackson, Jr. 65, of Columbus, Ohio. Howard passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025.
Howard was born on June 10, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio to Howard A. Jackson and Lillie Bell (Hampton) Jackson-Kirk. He was a retiree of The Ohio State University. Howard, a car buff, appreciated his Cadillac's luxury, plush interior and performance. He also enjoyed drumming and listening to R & B, his favorite genre of music. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. Howard's passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives he touched.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard A. Jackson and Lillie Bell (Hampton) Jackson-Kirk; cousin Jerry Neal; and dear friend Keith "Dep" Shropshire.
Howard is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Karen Jackson. He met the love of his life, Karen, in 1997 at the Stardust Lounge. The two were inseparable and lived life together on their own terms.
Howard is survived by three sons, Jermane Jackson (Amber), Dishawn Jackson (Deidre), and Julien Jackson; grandchildren, Jermane Jackson Jr., Iyana Jackson, Olivia Jackson, Daijoure Jackson, Dorian Jackson, and Juelz Jackson. Howard is also survived by his siblings; Larry Jackson (Monica) and Michelle Hartway (Chris); cousin, Michael Neal (Wanda); best friends, Rodney Jackson, Cortez Hairston, and Ferris "Pookie" Dickerson.
