In Loving Memory of Isaac "Butch" Bridgeforth Jr.
February 27, 1953 - October 3, 2026
Isaac Bridgeforth Jr., affectionately known as "Butch," was born on February 27, 1953. He departed this life on October 3, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, service, and cherished memories.
Isaac grew up in Columbus, Ohio, where he attended Linden McKinley High School and graduated in 1972. Following high school, he continued his education at West Virginia State University, graduating in 1977.
While attending West Virginia State University, Isaac became a proud and faithful brother of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Theta Psi Chapter, crossing in 1973. The brotherhood, principles, and lifelong bonds he formed through Omega Psi Phi remained an important part of his life.
Upon graduating from college in 1977, Isaac answered the call to serve his country and became an Officer in the United States Army. His military service reflected the strength, leadership, discipline, and dedication that characterized so much of his life.
After returning to Columbus, Isaac began a long and successful career with the United States Postal Service, where he served as a supervisor. After many years of dedicated service, he retired in 2022.
Isaac was known for his lively spirit, generous heart, unmistakable style, and love for life's simple pleasures. A true Michigan Wolverines fan, he cheered for his team with unwavering passion and pride. He possessed a timeless sense of style and was rarely seen without looking perfectly polished.
Yet, more than anything, Isaac treasured his family and friends. He loved being surrounded by the people who meant the most to him. His presence had a way of filling a room, bringing laughter, warmth, and energy to every gathering. Whether sharing stories, enjoying time with loved ones, or simply being "Butch," he created memories that will forever be treasured.
Isaac was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Bridgeforth; father, Isaac Bridgeforth Sr.; grandson, Roy Dunkentell II; and sisters, Rosa Bridgeforth and Sheila Bridgeforth.
Isaac leaves to cherish his memory his four children: Isaac (Kourtnee) Bridgeforth III and Tia (Kayron) Bridgeforth, both of Columbus, Ohio; Kimberly (Kelvin) Heflin of Newnan, Georgia; and Alexis Bridgeforth of Davenport, Florida.
His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren: Shamya Ingram of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Montez Smith Jr. of Newnan, Georgia; Kraig Gibson of Columbus, Ohio; Royele Dunkentell of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Royonna Dunkentell of Newnan, Georgia; Kennedi Bridgeforth of Columbus, Ohio; Tyler Bridgeforth of Columbus, Ohio; and Kayron Jones Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; and his great-grandson, Cameron Golphin Jr. of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
He is also survived by his sisters, Leslie Thomas, Gayle (Melvin) Bridgeforth, and Ann Bridgeforth, all of Columbus, Ohio, and Janice of Buffone, Colorado; and his brother, Guy (Billie) Bridgeforth of Columbus, Ohio.
Isaac also shared an especially close and treasured bond with his beloved nephew, Stephan Scott Bridgeforth, who held a special place in his heart and life.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were made richer by knowing him.
Isaac "Butch" Bridgeforth Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, the laughter he shared, the love he gave, the strength he demonstrated, and the memories he created will remain forever.
