Jacques Duran Black was born in Mansfield, Ohio, on August 22, 1959, and peacefully went home to be with the Lord on March 20, 2025, following a short illness. Jacques, affectionately known as Randy to family and friends, was the third child of James K. and Jerri Black. He graduated from Malabar High School in 1977.
After high school, Randy began his career in food service, working as a manager for Wendy's. Like his mother, Randy had a love for cooking, which he turned into a fulfilling career. He later joined Cracker Barrel, where he played an instrumental role in opening new stores and training staff as far away as Buffalo, New York. In 2004, Randy moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he secured a job at the MGM Grand Casino and Resorts in culinary sciences. Over time, he worked his way up to Executive Chef, where he had the honor of serving many dignitaries, including President Barack Obama. Randy retired from the MGM on October 17, 2021, after 17 years of dedicated service.
Randy enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with his family, but above all, he deeply loved his mother, who was his heart. He will be dearly missed by his Bingo buddies, family, and friends.
Randy leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Jeri Wilburn; his brother, Loren (Donna) Black; his sisters, Nikki (Rodney) Bronson and Robin (John) Allen; nieces Shannon (Christopher) Edmondson, Queyana Watts, Christina Black; nephews Justin Black and D’Andre Black; cousins/sister Vanessa Pixie (Larry) Coombs, and special cousins who were like brothers, Muffin Black and Ernest Bell; Lady Shirley Ann Jordan; angel from heaven, Kathy Pointer; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, James K. Black; his brother, Jamel Black; his maternal grandparents, Bernice and Charles Johnson; his paternal grandparents, Iola and Delarcy Black, Sr.; nephew, Kristen Black; aunts Patricia Black and Ruth Belcher and cousin, Mark Black.
