James Elbert Bonham peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 25, 2025 surrounded by his loving wife and two daughters. Born on October 31, 1957 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late JD Bonham and Vivian Chester (Feagin).
James was a loving, devoted, and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, mentor, and friend. James attended and graduated from Malabar High School in Mansfield, OH and later enlisted in the United States Army. He was an IT specialist for 40 years. During this time, James loved competing in dart tournaments, going to the gym to lift weights, traveling and gracing the world with his humour, playing cards and listening to music. He was a very kind and generous man.
James is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Cherie Bonham. Daughters, Phylicia (Gabriel) Cato, and Ashley Gordon. Son, Maurice (Mykeisha) Gordon. Sister, Cassaundra Chester. Brothers, Donald Feagin, Walter (Cynthia) Bonham, and Willie (Andrea) Chester. As well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Special nieces, Jasmine Herans – who was like a daughter and the only one who could call him cupcake, and Marquita Llyod. Great friend and brother in law, Clayton (Bonnie) Kemp. One aunt, Peggy Brooks and one uncle, David Stephens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother Vivian Chester (Feagin) and father JD Bonham. Stepfather, Willie Chester. Brothers, Louis and Frank Bonham. Sisters, Dan’neice Johnson and Janice Collier. Sons, Jason O’neal and James Williams and best friend Rodney Fanning.
