James (Jim) Green was born on October 13, 1944, to Charles and Lulla Green in Columbus, Ohio. He passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 91 at Ohio State University (Rhoades Hall) in Columbus, Ohio.
At a very young age, James attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and was educated at Mound Street School.
He worked at Myers Bakery from a young age and remained there for approximately 25 years. Later, James retired from the Laborers’ International Union of North America, Local 423, in Columbus, Ohio.
James will continue to live through us—through the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the example he set. May we honor his legacy by living with respect, discipline, and kindness, just as he taught us.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lulla Green; Conchita Brunner; his brothers William, Charles Jr., and Muhammed (Sharon) Green; and his sisters Vera Green, Ora (Donald) Travis, Mary Green, and Geraldine (Larry) Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved son, Ricardo (Sofie) Brunner of Columbus, Ohio; Chad Simms; his sisters Lula (John) Zellner, Juanita Green, Minnie (Frank) Cunningham of Columbus, Ohio, and Betty Reynolds of Kansas City; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
