James A. Jacobs, of Columbus Ohio passed away on July 9, 2025, at age 85. He was born on July 29, 1939, in Columbus Ohio and was the son of Clarence and Margaret Jacobs.
He worked at Jacobs & Son Moving and Storage/Accelerated Laboratory Logistics from 1954-2004 (70 years). Jim started working as a mover at the family business at age 15 and later became the company president from 1978-1989.
Jim was a longstanding member of New Salem Baptist Church and was a participant in the men's choir. He was an avid basketball fan and ran the AAU basketball league in Columbus, Ohio for many years and coached the Jacobs & Son basketball team. Jim was a renowned referee for many high school and college basketball games throughout Ohio. He was a passionate Ohio State University basketball and football fan and attended nearly all of the games into his late 70s. Jim also enjoyed attending and cheering on his grandson at his basketball games. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved spending time at White Castle restaurants throughout Columbus. He would meet up with lifelong friends daily to socialize and have coffee. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends and remembered for his playful nature, sense of humor, and kindness.
Jim is preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Margaret Jacobs; siblings, Sara Wilson, Eleanor Warfield, Clarence Jacobs, Jr., Ruth Porter, Mary Gray and Thomas Jacobs.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Katrina (Donald) Wing; grandchildren, Kaila (Jake) Ellis, Brayden, Kayla, and Skyler; great-grandchildren, Ryder and Wyatt; cherished nephew, Todd Wilson; and numerous other family members.
