James Thompson

James “Jimmy” William Thompson, age 69, was born on August 27, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio, to Charlotte and James. He departed this life on January 5, 2026, while in the care of Hospice of Central Ohio, located at The Ohio State University. Jimmy attended and graduated from

Columbus Public Schools. He worked at The Ohio State University until he retired after thirty-six years of service. Jimmy and Linda united in marriage in November 1995. Jimmy was very loving to all his friends and family. He was always there to help and support his family. He loved watching all sports, especially The Ohio State University.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Patty, Marie, Laura, and Mary, one brother, David, and one step-son, Jerry Tod Phillips, Jr.

Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Linda; stepdaughter Katrina (Sean) Ransom; two brothers, Ronald (Denise) and Walter; one sister, Jackie Cunningham; one sister-law, Janice and three grandchildren, Sean, Jr., Kenady, and LeKeyta. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jimmy will be missed by many loved ones and friends. He had an unforgettable impact on the lives of his family.
