Janet Woods

Janet Lynell Woods was born on February 26, 1975, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to the late Jasper Williams Woods, Jr., and Carolyn Tatney Woods. She departed her earthly home on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at OSU Medical Center.

Janet accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Kaddoville, Louisiana. Janet was a proud graduate of Brookhaven High School, Class of 1993, and later earned an associate degree in the medical field.

Janet will be remembered as a sweet, kind, hard-working, and loving soul. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Justin Williams Woods, along with Sade his fiancée, and one goddaughter, Lee (Brianna Woods) two brothers, Micheal Tatney (Chentrel) of Columbus, Ohio, and Jasper Williams Woods III of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Cindy Woods of Addis, Louisiana; and ten beloved nieces and nephews: Tiffany Tatney, Christopher Tatney (Seirra), MieshaTatney, Malasha Tatney Johnson (Derrick), De'Onte Woods, Robert Woods, Jada Woods, Lee (Brianna Woods), Caleb Woods, and Zaria Christmas. Janet also shared a lifelong bond with her best friends, Carolyn Johnson of Plaquemine, Louisiana, and Leah Gibson of Columbus, Ohio.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper Williams Woods, Jr., and Carolyn Tatney Woods; her sister, Dana Tatney Johnson; her nephew, Cordell Tatney; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
