With heavy hearts and cherished memories, the family of Jermaine Love Thomas announces his peaceful passing on September 30, 2026, at the age of 54. Born on December 5, 1971, in Columbus, Ohio, Jermaine was a beloved son, brother, father, and cousin whose warmth and presence touched all who knew him throughout his journey.
Jermaine grew up in Columbus, where he developed a deep love for sports, especially football and basketball. Whether cheering on his favorite teams or enjoying a game with friends and family, Jermaine’s passion for athletics was infectious. His enthusiasm brought people together, sparking laughter, spirited debates, and lifelong bonds around the television or at the many family cookouts that were held.
To his family, Jermaine was a source of unwavering support and kindness. He shared a special bond with his mother, Barbara Thomas, and treasured the friendship and loyalty of his brother, Carl Thomas, along with Carl’s partner, Cherrita Fentress. Jermaine’s legacy is carried forward by his beloved children, son, NiQuan Bell, and daughter, Joy-Anya Thomas, who were the pride and joy of his life. His cousins—Paulus Thomas, Marlin Johnson, Anthony Johnson, and Nicole Wallace—held a treasured place in his heart, and the memories made together will be held close forever.
Jermaine was preceded in death by his grandfather, John H. Thomas; grandmother, Virginia Thomas; aunt, Evelyn Johnson; and aunt, Dorothy Goins. Their loving spirits surely welcomed him with open arms.
Those who knew Jermaine will remember his gentle heart, his sense of humor, and his ability to light up any room with his smile. He leaves behind not only a legacy of love, but also countless memories that will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have known him.
