It is with a mixture of sorrow and joy that we announce the passing of Jerry Cartharn, a beloved father, devoted community member, and dedicated servant of God. Jerry was born on April 19, 1949, in Tchula, Mississippi, and departed this life peacefully on July 6, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, where he had made his home.Jerry was known for his incredible work ethic as a landscaper, where he sought to beautify the world around him, one yard at a time. More than just his profession, Jerry was a loving father, brother, and a cherished friend to all who knew him. His passion for life extended beyond landscaping-he truly savored the joy of family gatherings, especially around the grill, where his barbecuing skills were the stuff of legends.A man of deep faith, Jerry served as a Deacon at the New Walk Church of God in Christ, where he inspired many with his unwavering commitment to God and community. His love for the church and its congregation was evident in the warmth he radiated and the countless hours he dedicated to service.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Cartharn and Ossie Cartharn. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children David and Shermaine Cartharn; brothers, Eddie and Cornelious Cartharn; sisters, Lynn, Debra, and Willa Mae Cartharn; and a host of other relatives and friends.
May we hold on to the cherished memories of Jerry and carry forward the legacy of love and service that he shared so freely.
