Jessica “Lynn” Smith was born on November 30, 1987, in Columbus, Ohio, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. On September 12, 2026, Lynn answered God’s call and peacefully went home to be with the Lord.
Lynn was a loving mother of three handsome sons who were truly the center of her world. She cherished spending time with her children and took great pride in being their mother. Lynn loved cooking for her kids and the people she loved, putting care into everything she prepared. Lynn was also known and loved for her famous drink jars. She was a familiar face and an important part of the Short North community, where she made memories and connections that will remain with those who knew her.
Lynn will be remembered for her unique personality, her love for her children, her cooking, and the many memories she created with those closest to her. Although her time on earth was far too short, the love she gave will continue to live on through her children, family, and friends. Lynn was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Robert Ellison; great-grandmother, Viola Brown; grandmother, Ida Bell Huge; stepfather, Stephan Lamont Austin; aunt, Mary Huge; uncles, Fred Thompson Sr., Gregory McDonald, and Wallace “Bill” Vale; great-aunt, Mary Lee Barnett; and great-uncle, Odell Barnett. Left to cherish Lynn’s memory are her loving life partner, Christopher Harris; mother, Melissa Smith; father, Kenneth “Ken” Ellison; and mother-in-love, Pamela Harris. Also cherishing her memory are her three beloved sons, Christopher Harris Jr., Chrishawn Harris, and Messiah Smith; her grandchildren, Christiona and Saniya Harris; and her beloved goddaughters, Andrea Madison and Royalty Paige.
Her memory will also be cherished by her brothers, Larry, Greg, and Qweontay; sisters, Kishia (Everette), Shyniece, TyQuanna, Kway, Kapree, and Mya; nieces, Nakiyha, Aiyanna, Miyanna, Londyn, Miyonne, Zariye, and Chloe; nephews, Dacoreeon, Gregory, Larry Jr., Makai, and Miyon; grandmother, Laura McLeod; uncles, Gary, Shawn, and Anthony; and aunts, Debra, Linda K., Denise, and Lisa.
Lynn also leaves her favorite cousins, Princess and Jolisha; her special friends, Aiyanna, Bertha, and Jasmine; and a host of cousins, extended family members, friends, and loved ones. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to their strongest supporters, Ida Hill, Rokeesha Harris, and Shanaka Reynolds, for their unwavering love, support, and presence during this difficult time. Your love and support have meant more than words can express.
Though Lynn has taken her rest, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her children will carry her love, her family will carry her memories, and her friends will carry the moments they shared with her.
You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Rest peacefully, Lynn. Until we meet again..
