The Story of “Johnny’s” aka “John Boy’s” Life
John “Johnny” Edward Cameron went home to be with the Lord, Thursday August 1, 2024 at 2:32 a.m. at the age of 59 years in Springfield Regional Medical Center’s (SRMC) ICU in Springfield, Ohio surrounded by his loving mother, sister, and cousin. He was born on September 22, 1964 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Henry Marion Cameron and Allie Virginia (Cameron) Jones. He was the youngest son of their four children.
John during his younger years attended Town and Country Care Center where his disabilities were assessed and further developed and as a young adult and he began working at The Abilities Connections (TAC) up until the time he gained Heavenly wings.
John loved his family, especially his mom to the depths of his soul. John was his mom’s shadow wherever mom went John was never far behind. He was “her baby” as she often called him. They were inseparable & shared an unconditional irreplaceable love for one another. To know John was simply to love him. The birth of his first niece Jamey revealed his true love for kids and she quickly became a little sister to him. He would walk around and follow her throughout the house to watch her play, doing so delighted him. He enjoyed spending quality time with family, especially his loved ones. He loved listening to music, watching TV, & loved to eat. His favorite dishes in his young adulthood were his mom’s pinto beans, cornbread, and fried chicken. He could never get enough chicken! Later in his adult years, his favorite breakfast became Bob Evans sausages, fried potatoes, and boiled eggs. He’d often stand next to her and watch as she prepared his meals. If he didn’t smell his food cooking or see it prepared by his mom he oftentimes would refuse to eat his meals…those who knew John knew him to be stubborn at times!
John in his early years learned to speak, he often repeated phrases his eldest brother James would say to him for example, “Johnnnnnnyyyy, turn that light off!” At one time he had a thing for light switches, he would often turn light switches on and off at all hours of the day & night! He became non-verbal in the years to come, however, he was still able to communicate with you with his eyes and through his facial expressions. He embodied love, compassion, caring, nurturing, and an affectionate giving heart. He loved catching/riding the bus to attend Town and Country Care Center in his younger years, he also liked riding on them so much he would run after any school bus passing by. Johnny was funny and made those who loved him laugh often unintentionally. He was simply an effortless joy to be around. Although as he aged he became more silent, his presence was always known and felt. He also loved riding in the car and often would refuse to exit the vehicle if the ride was too short for his liking. He had an extreme love for the outdoors so much he would stare out of every window in every room when he was unable to venture outside. He would always stand in the front door and stare out the window being the first one everyone saw when visiting the family.
John became a dedicated member of Restored Life Ministries in 2006. He enjoyed hearing the Lord’s Word preached as well as the music during praise & worship time. He was guaranteed to wear a huge smile, rock in his wheelchair, and clap his hands during a joyous time of worship. John’s mom and family take great pleasure in knowing that John whom we affectionately called "Johnny" and/or "John Boy" is now in the arms of our Lord & Savior. Rest peacefully in Paradise in His Glory John (aka son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, & friend) and continue to fly high shining your light and shower your unconditional unwavering love on your family for eternity! Until we all meet again!
