John Noah Magwood Sr.

John Noah Magwood Sr., (A.K.A.) “Johnny”, was born on November 19, 1942, in Urbancrest, Ohio, to the late Ruth Francis (Kemper) Magwood and the late Moses Magwood.

Johnny loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. He faithfully attended many churches throughout the years with his final membership ending at Apostolic Faith Temple. He loved to dance and play basketball, although he loved to play, he could only make one basket per game, which affectionately earned him the nickname, “One-Time”! He graduated from Grove City High School and was definitely a ladies’ man.

Johnny loved to visit family and friends, even if he had to walk or take two buses to get there. Everyone that knew him, knew that it certainly would not be a long visit, unless of course, he was watching a football game. He especially loved spending time with his great granddaughters, Marianna and Ahanna. Many knew Johnny to be a man of few words, but his great granddaughters could get him talking, rather he wanted to or not. His face would light up when we visited, and the
first thing he would say is “How ya doin gal, where my Twinkies?” Of course, his favorite snack was a box of Twinkies and a Pepsi. We all heard him say, at some point, “I ain’t got no money!”, but he could fish out exactly what he wanted to give you without even looking!

He was preceded in death by both his parents; wife, Margaret Magwood; sons, Marcus Hughes and Kevin L. Magwood; grandson, Darrien J. Magwood; sister, Alice M (Magwood) Evans; brother, Lawrence A. Magwood; and special cousin, James Fisher.

Johnny leaves behind to cherish his memory, sons, John N. Magwood Jr., Gregory S. Magwood, and Alan W. (Donna) Magwood, Michael A. Westmoreland; daughters, Debra R. Magwood and Qiana Magwood, Julia (Shawn) Chavis, 12 grandchildren, and 10
great grandchildren; special grandchildren, Marcus Collins, Jason J. W. Turner, Brianna R. Braynen and Brittney R. Braynen, and great granddaughters, Marianna B. and Ahanna J. Braynen-Manns; and great grandson, Kozlo M. Braynen-Perkins; a special future son-in-law, Kimsey J. Head; special sister-in-law, Rosetta Magwood; cousin, JC Rivers and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
