Life Beginnings
Kelvin Wayne “BO” Jenkins was born, Monday, April 21, 1962, at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Thomas Calvin and Elvie Walker Jenkins. He spent his early years in Iberville and St. Mary Parishes, where he attended primary school. From a young age, Kelvin was blessed with a foundation of faith; he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in his early childhood and was baptized at Point Pleasant Baptist Church in Plaquemine, Louisiana,( Rev. James Willie Green )
Life and Legacy in Columbus, Ohio
Kelvin’s life journey was shaped by both family sacrifice and divine provision. Born to parents united in marriage, his father, Thomas C, labored offshore on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico while his mother, Elvie, pursued her college education to become a teacher. During this season, Kelvin was lovingly entrusted to the care of his maternal great-uncle, Oneal McCoy, a prominent businessman in Columbus, Ohio, and his devoted wife, Florence “ Tee” McCoy. With open hearts, they welcomed Kelvin into their home, just as other relatives helped care for him and his siblings, Keuren, Terrylynn, and Connie, ensuring that the family’s foundation remained strong.
Kelvin was nurtured, guided, and prepared for life where he attended local schools and came of age under the mentorship of his Uncle Oneal, learning not only the value of hard work but the principles of entrepreneurship through McCoy Trash Collection. Under his uncle’s tutelage, Kelvin developed a keen business sense and a strong work ethic that would define his life.Upon Uncle Oneal’s retirement, the business was entrusted to his two nephews, Kelvin (“Bo”) Jenkins and Frank (“Darrell”) Walker Jr. Renamed “ B & D Hauling ” the company grew into a trusted and respected name throughout Ohio.
On Friday, February, 20, 2026 at 2:20 pm at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center SICU, Kelvin boarded God’s chariots to be with the Lord, forevermore.

Kelvin is additionally survived by his loving siblings: Elizabeth J. Williams, Keuren J. Pinkney, Connie Jenkins, Latoya Johnson, Dr. (Evang.) Terrylynn Jenkins , Brian Jenkins (Stacy) , and Thomas C. Johnson (Rockeisha) of, Louisiana. and Thomas J. Jenkins (Theresa) of California;
Kelvin shared a special bond with those who were more than cousins, but siblings in love and upbringing: his dear maternal first cousin, Frank “Darrell” Walker Jr. (Kimberly) his children Amber, Frank, Tabbytha, and Isayah Walker; Fred T. Walker , as well as Andre McCoy and Olevia Matthews (Walter), friend Kevin Burley, and close childhood friend Jimmie Nichols , all of Ohio. He leaves an abundance of special & close friends , nieces, nephews, cousins , many relatives, extended family , and so many others that were more than simply acquaintances.
He is further survived by his maternal aunt Mary Ann Johnson; and his paternal uncle and aunt, Augustus Jenkins, Sr. and Virginia Lacy of Louisiana. Kelvin was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jenkins and Elvie Jenkins Rooks; his great maternal uncle and aunt, Oneal and Florence McCoy; and one who was like a brother to him, Rogers Tatney.
Kelvin lived out the essence of Scripture, embodying the truth of 1 Timothy 5:8 (KJV): “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” Kelvin faithfully provided for his children and extended that same care to others, never wavering in his commitment. We give thanks to God that he upheld his faith and legacy, leaving behind a life marked by love, provision, and unwavering devotion.
Kelvin was a known jokester, had a playful spirit and was known for his quick wit and sense of humor, always bringing laughter to those around him. He enjoyed the thrill of taking a chance and found joy in the excitement of going to the Casino & Auto auctions. He loved his trucks and cars, He was resourceful and determined, always finding a way forward. Kelvin was entrepreneurial, and took pride in making things happen by any means He was the keeper of the BEST stories; those wild, joyful kind that made everyone laugh and shake their heads in disbelief. His passion for “ B & D Hauling “ ran deep ; it was more than a business. It was a shared labor of hard work & love that he and Frank Jr. carried and nurtured side by side. Kelvin filled every room with wild stories he kept with him; tales of so many memories, unbelievable moments, and the kind of adventures that became unforgettable.Well known throughout Columbus, Ohio and many places, He was a people person that was profoundly loved. Kelvin “Bo” Jenkins truly loved , cherished and held close to his entire family , every friend, and anyone to him that was an extension of that in any way, shape, or form. Above all, he deeply loved his children and grandchildren, who were the center of his world and greatest source of pride.
Known affectionately as “Bo” by those in the community, he became recognized as a shrewd businessman, a provider, and a man of integrity whose generosity touched many lives.
