Kenneth Ray Gossett, 95, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the VA Hospice Center in Dayton, Ohio.
He was born on October 19, 1930, the youngest son of Cloice A. and Dorothy (Peppers) Gossett. Kenneth was reared in rural Clark County, Ohio.
He graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in Mechanicsburg, Ohio. After graduating from high school, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Navy. He served during the Cold War, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War from 1949 until he retired in 1970. While serving in the U.S. Navy, he was stationed in San Diego, California; the Mediterranean; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; and the Philadelphia Navy Receiving Station, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During his Naval tenure, he served on the USS President Jackson (AP-37), USS Yancey (AKA-93), USS Pictor (AF-54), USS Cadmus (AR-14), USS Amphion (AR-13), USS Tanner (AGS-15), USS Oriskany (CV-34). Throughout his Naval retirement, he met annually with fellow shipmates at various bases across the country to fellowship and celebrate their endured comradery.
He was an active member of VFW Post 8673 in Springfield, Ohio, and several social clubs in Springfield, Ohio, holding various leadership positions.
He is preceded in death by his parents; spouses: Helen K. Gossett and Mary E. Gossett; siblings: Owen Gossett, Glenn Gossett, Almeta Smith, Bertha Taylor, Margaret Ann Gossett, and Evelyn Jones.
He leaves to cherish in his memory, a host of Nieces, Nephews, and Friends who all loved him dearly.
