He continued his education with a football scholarship, attending Chico State University in Chico, California, where he met the mother of his children.

Kenzie spent twenty years in California before relocating to Columbus with his mother, who had moved there from New York. He embraced his membership in the Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, where he actively served in various capacities, including the Men of Vision, Male Chorus, and Senior Usher Board. His commitment and devotion to his church and community were unwavering.

In addition to his countless contributions to Triedstone, Kenzie had a deep love for his family. He was a proud and devoted husband to his beloved wife Lauren Gray, with whom he shared many cherished moments. He is also survived by two daughters, Jihan and Santy Gray, instilling in them his passions for acting, chess, and the joy of dance, particularly his signature move, the New York Hustle. He is also survived by his sisters/niece Dana Scarlet and Sadiqua Scarlet; stepsons Gerald Jones and Steven Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Kenzie, a loving grandfather, took immense pride in his ten grandchildren and created countless memories with them. He was not only a great Domino and Biz Wiz player but also a skilled chess player, passing on his acquired wisdom to his children and grandchildren.

After retiring from his position as a transporter at Port A Clean, Kenzie continued his employment at The Marlan Gary Funeral Home, The Chapel of Peace, serving as a funeral attendant. His gentle presence and compassionate nature brought comfort to grieving families during their most difficult times. Despite his passing, Kenzie’s spirit of joy and love will forever shine in the hearts of those he touched.
