Larry Joe Crews Jr.

Larry Joe Crews, Jr. "Boddie" was Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Although he lived in the Northend of Columbus, he proudly considered Stambaugh and Elwood his home. He was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School, where he played varsity football and built lifelong memories and friends.

Following in his father’s footsteps after high school, he joined the Ohio Operating Engineers. He found his calling as a backhoe operator and thrived in his work. He was a hardworking man, an amazing father, and a great provider who took great pride in caring for his family.

He loved God, and he loved his family. He always wanted his loved ones close, and he especially cherished the time he spent with his son and grandsons. He was the kind of person you could always count on. If you needed him, he would be there. His hugs made you feel safe and loved, and his awesome smile could brighten any room.

He never met a stranger. Outgoing, funny, and always ready with a joke, he had a hearty laugh and a personality that people remembered. His memory was unmatched, and he loved telling stories and taking everyone back in time with his “memories of back in the day”. He was generous with his heart, his time, and his advice. He never bit his tongue when it came to saying exactly what he was thinking.

He enjoyed many of life’s simple pleasures, including cheesecake, lasagna, and BBQ fried chicken. A true Buckeye fan, he enjoyed long drives on campus while playing his music too loud! He also loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, and spending time with his dog, Kita.

He had a passion for guns and heavy artillery. He thought it was his responsibility to take care of the whole family. What defined him most was the love he had for his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He was a protector, a provider, a storyteller, a jokester, and a friend to many.

His presence was unforgettable. His laughter, his smile, his hugs, his stories, and his straightforward words will remain in our hearts forever. He was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed. His memory will live on. We will now tell "remember when" stories about him. We love you and always will!
