LaShawnta Denise McCurdy was born March 12, 1981 to parents Donald McCurdy Sr. and Sheila Williams. LaShawnta was affectionately known as "Sissy" or "Tae" by close family and friends. She was beautiful, fearless, loving, easygoing, kind and fun.
LaShawnta was born in and grew up in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Centennial High School where she excelled in every activity she participated in and every group she joined. She earned multiple MVP awards over her 4 years of playing Girls Basketball for Centennial. She participated in the Drill Team, Track, Cheerleading, Softball and the Debate Team. She was lovingly awarded Homecoming Queen multiple years in a row and she was also awarded "Queen of Hearts" during her time at Centennial.
Following her interest in Fashion and beauty, LaShawnta graduated from the Ohio State School of Cosmetology with the Class of 2001. With her training and flair, LaShawnta always had a different hair style, the nicest outfit and a shoe collection that caught everyone's attention.
Independent and strong, LaShawnta stayed employed and busy. She spent her talents the last several years at the United States Postal Service.
LaShawnta enjoyed cooking, skating and hiking. She loved spending time with family and friends but her greatest joy was time spent with her son.
