Lauren Hamilton, age 77. Sunrise August 2, 1948 and Sunset November 25, 2025.
Lauren Hamilton, of Columbus, Ohio, peacefully transitioned to the next phase of her journey on November 25, 2025 at Ohio Health's Grant Hospital. In her final hours, Lauren was surrounded by members of her loving family, and the excellent medical support of doctors and nurses at Grant Hospital.
The beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was born on August 2, 1948 in Gary, West Virginia to Roscoe and Annie Mae Hamilton, both of whom preceded her in death. Lauren was born the 7th of 11 surviving brothers and sisters. The generation of cousins raised by Lauren and her siblings grew up listening to and enjoying the many adventures of the close-knit Hamilton Clan from Gary.
Lauren graduated from Gary High School in 1966 in the first racially integrated class from that institution. This followed the closure of the racially segregated and beloved Gary District High School. Lauren met her husband and the father of her children, Michael during her brief military service. Lauren was honorably discharged from the United States Army in August of 1969.
For a short-time, Michael and Lauren lived in Newport News, VA, Michael's hometown and where both of her children were born. After living in Newport News for a few years, Lauren spent the remainder of her adult life living, raising her children and working in Columbus, Ohio where 4 of her siblings also resided.
Lauren retired from Ohio Health in 2013. Prior to Ohio Health, Lauren also spent time working with AT&T and KPMG.
Lauren's retirement was spent doing some family travel, watching her favorite television shows (Gunsmoke and Big Valley), exploring the world of wine tasting and, after raising 2 children alone, and working most of her life, indulging in her favorite past-time (rest).
In addition to her parents, Lauren was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; and her siblings, Alan, Dwight, Joe and Pauline.
Lauren is survived by her son, Michael (Michael Robinson) of Brooklyn, New York; her daughter, Monica (Tyrone) Eaton of Columbus; grandson, Timothy Hamilton; granddaughter, Laila Eaton, both of Columbus; seven (7) surviving siblings, Constance Toles, Alice Pope (Tyrone), Maudrine Cason, Dave (Linda), Jane Hooper, and Paul (Marilyn); her sister-in-law, Kaye Hamilton; as well as a host of (grand) nieces, (grand) nephews and friends.
The family sends its deepest appreciation for every call, text, message, or prayer on their behalf.
In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests that a donation be made to your local food bank/food pantry in Ms. Hamilton's name.
