Levon "Candy" Bush

March 16, 1976 — December 7, 2025

Levon “Candy” Marque Bush entered eternal rest peacefully on December 7, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, gaining her angel wings and gaining her heavenly reward. She was surrounded by the deep love of her family, who cherished her beyond measure.

Born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia, Levon “Candy” was known for her radiant smile, warm spirit, and the boundless love she held for everyone fortunate enough to know her. Growing up, her cousins lovingly teased that she was her grandmother Betty Bush’s “favorite grandchild” a testament to the special light she carried throughout her life.

Levon graduated from Capital High School and later continued her education studying Nursing at Columbus State Community College and Office Administration at the Urban League. From her youth, she possessed a caregiver’s heart. This calling led her to a meaningful career in health care as a devoted Home Health Aide, where she touched countless lives with kindness, patience, and compassion.

Levon was welcomed into eternity by her parents; Tanya Bush and Andre Battle, maternal grandparents Betty and Louis Bush Jr., paternal grandparents Betty Jean Thomas and Lee Battle, and her beloved Auntie-Mom Cynthia Parker, all of whom preceded her in death.

Levon was blessed with ten children, whom she loved fiercely. She lived for each of their smiles, their accomplishments, and especially their passions whether it was cheer & dance, modeling or the pride she held for her brave soldiers. Her children were the center of her world and the source of her greatest joy. Her children; D’Andre Armstrong (fiancée Geovonna), Dariea Armstrong, Dai’lynne Powell, Deylyne Powell Jr., Dei’Ara Powell, Dey’Auna Powell, Amiyah Powell, Jaremyah Powell, Deza’Rhae Powell, Dee’Aijiah Powell. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren; Da’Naiyah and Ga’Cobi who brought immeasurable joy to her days.

Levon cherished her brother, Thomas “Drew” Bess and sisters Tishia Freeman (Michael), Kim Tyson (Fred), and Andrea Scott as well as a large, loving family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Her stepfather Wilfred Fowler and fathers of her children; Deylyne Powell Sr. and Gene Armstrong. Levon had many “sister-cousins,” bonus children and bonus grandkids Bray’Lynn, My’Legaci, A’Nylah, A’Zorah and Jaceion whom she embraced as her own, as well as The Black Pearlz and Pink Roses community that she poured her creativity, energy, and love into. Those who knew her will forever remember Levon as a giver, someone who showed up and showed out, lifted others, and found joy in making people feel seen and loved.

Throughout her illness, Levon displayed remarkable strength and grace. There were times when no one even knew she was fighting, because her greatest wish was to shield her children and loved ones from fear and sadness. She put herself aside and remained by the side of her Auntie Mom throughout her battle with the same disease. Her bravery was quiet, constant, and deeply inspiring.

Levon “Candy” leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and generosity. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and all who were blessed to share in her beautiful life. Though she will be deeply missed, the impact she made will last forever.
