Levon Lee Johnson, age 59, a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at St. Ann’s Hospital, Westerville, OH. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he touched.
Levon’s life on earth began in Meridian, Mississippi, on May 30, 1966. He is the son of John and Juanita Motton Sr. He graduated from Walnut Ridge High School in 1985. He attended Arizona State University and the University of Tennessee at Martin. He majored in criminal justice and played safety for both college teams. Yes, he was a big safety!
With over 25 years at Coca-Cola, Levon was a loyal and dedicated employee. As a merchandiser, he developed many long-term friendships with fellow Coca-Cola and store employees.
Levon gave his life to Christ at an early age. There was no question that he was a devoted follower and disciple of Jesus Christ. He later joined New Birth Christian Ministries as his church home. Levon was a faithful, loving, caring, respectful, and hardworking husband to his wife of 21 years, Tammy. His daughter, Tori, was the apple of his eye and the tug of his heart. He never missed an event that she was involved in. He loved his role as girl dad. Although Levon had a large physical presence, he was a very kind spirit. He had a special way of letting you know that he liked you... and that was by picking on you.
Levon and Tammy were participants of the New Covenant Believers’ Church – Empowerment Zone Ministry. Through this ministry, they grew their faith, cultivated their marriage, and strengthened their sense of Sisterhood and Brotherhood. This culture of Brotherhood was the epitome of “Iron Sharpening Iron” with love of family, love of each other, and most of all, love of the Lord.
Levon often reminisced about his early days with “the crew” and growing up on Morrison. The thing he loved most of all was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed family gatherings. Traveling with family and friends, watching and talking about football with his father-in-law, Lesly, was such an enjoyable time for him. Levon would joke that the Southeastern Conference (SEC) was better than the Big 10 Conference. When it came to the National Football League (NFL), he was hands down a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Levon was preceded in death by his biological mother, Flora Conner, and brother, Richard Conner.
His legacy of love will live on through his wife Tammy M. Caffie Johnson and daughter, Tori D. Johnson of Pickerington, OH; parents, John (Juanita) Motton Sr. of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Jacquelyn J. Holmes and Cynthia A. Pratcher of Columbus, OH; six brothers, Douglas R. (Jenita) Johnson, Darron (Bauni) Motton, John (Beverly) Motton Jr., Leonard Motton, Christopher Conner all of Columbus, Ohio and Douglas Conner of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Adrian Green of Warren, OH and Robin Caffie of Broken Arrow, OK; in-laws, Lesly E. Edmonson and Betty E. Pinkney of Warren, OH; goddaughter Amiyah Butler and godson Braylon Nowlin; Special Cousins Martin Whaley, Mary LaMarr, Stephanie Ross, and Walt Cloyd; Special friends Charles Willis, Lonnie Davis, Michael Glasco, Michael Benjamin and Shawn Walker; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff of St. Ann’s Hospital, St. Ann’s Chaplain Rev. Dr. Sylvia Mcleod-Smith, the staff of Coca-Cola Consolidated, Coca-Cola’s Chaplain Charles Finklea, Supervisor Matt Todd Harper, and the staff of Walmart Westerville #5857.
Levon was a strong believer and lived his life to reflect the teachings of the Word and his parents. Levon was adored not only by his wife and daughter, but also by his siblings, his nieces and nephews, and a host of other extended family members and friends.
