Lillie B. Leigh, age 93. Sunrise November 23, 1932, and Sunset July 6, 2026. Lillie was born November 23, 1932, in Delbarton, West Virginia to the late Reverend Peter H. and Eugenia Coleman. She moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1944. She attended Franklin Jr. High and East High School. She married the late James Leigh, Sr. in 1950 and into this union they had six children. She worked at Children's Hospital for fifteen years and later did childcare in her home as she kept all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a faithful member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church for over fifty years, worked in the kitchen ministry under the late Reverend M.J. Mitchell, under Pastor Elon Meeks for twenty-nine years and also attended bible study under Pastor Meeks. She was a member of the traveling committee and served on the Women's Ministry with Sister Elaine Meeks.
She is preceded in death by her husband: James Leigh, Sr.; predeceased children, son: James Leigh, Jr., Mark Leigh; two daughters: Bonnie and Beverly Leigh; two brothers: John and Ralph Coleman; sister: Mable Ruffin and great-great granddaughter: Jerica Leigh.
Lillie loved traveling, was in a bowling league for many years and everyone knew she loved bingo. She loved to talk on the phone daily to her special friends, Diane Hodo, Diane Walker, Sharon Woods, Isabelle Williamson and Eloise Walker.
She leaves to cherish in memory Daughter: Brenda (Ronnie) Young and Son: Michael (Stephanie) Leigh; loving Grandchildren: Angela (Ryan) Harrington, Michael (Chastiddy) Dennis, Alesia Smith, Annette Leigh, James Leigh, Jordan Leigh, Simone Leigh, and Lamont Leigh. She also leaves twelve great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.
Lillie moved in with her daughter, Brenda who was her caregiver as Lillie passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Her granddaughter, Annette Leigh was also her caregiver before moving with her daughter Brenda. Her granddaughters Angela Harrington and Alesia Smith also helped care for her. She enjoyed her visits from her son, Michael from Springfield, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially loved spending time with her great-granddaughter Ashley Harrington, who would come over, read to her, give her massages, they talked about family history and family recipes which Lillie truly enjoyed telling her family stories.
