Louis Harper, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, in Westerville, Ohio. He was born on November 27, 1935, in Sparta, Georgia, to the late John Wesley Harper and Lula Harper. At a young age, Louis moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he built the foundation of his life. Demonstrating a deep sense of responsibility and love for his family, he later returned to Georgia to help relocate his parents and siblings to Ohio, ensuring they could share in greater opportunities and a better future together.
Louis was united in marriage to the love of his life, Pauline “Judy” Bondurant, whom he affectionately called “Love.” For over 59 years, their bond was a true partnership built on devotion, respect, and enduring affection.
He was a proud father and provider who worked tirelessly for his family. Louis graduated from Columbus Central High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Franklin University. He achieved this milestone while attending classes in the evening and working full time at Capital Manufacturing, demonstrating his remarkable determination and commitment to creating a better life for his family.
Louis dedicated more than 40 years of service to Capital Manufacturing before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and integrity.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline “Judy” Harper; his parents, Lula and John Wesley Harper; his daughter, Patricia Diane Shaw; his brothers, Isaac Harper, Sr., Frank Harper, and Julian Harper; and his sisters, Annie Pryor and Agnes Graves, four brother-in-laws and five sister-in-laws.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving son, Evan (Felicia) Harper; his cherished grandchildren, Lesli (Robert) Jackson, Jermaine (Faith) Shaw, Amber (Derrell) Northern, Alexandria (LaDerek) Brown, and Austin (Eryne) Harper; his adored great-grandchildren, Trevon, Tremaine, Allona, Ayanna Shaw, Imani Jackson, Kaleb and Kayden Brown, Cameron and Weston Harper , Chris and Gabriella Gammon and great-great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Aira, Skylee, Jermaine and Patricia.
He is also survived by his sisters, Dr. E. Jean Harper (Preston Mack) and Dorothy Tucker, sister-in-laws Anna Harper, Carmen Hill, Linda Morris and June Black, Charlene and Sherrye Bondurant, brother-in-laws David (Lydia) , William Richard (Wanda) and John Timothy (Leisia) Bondurant along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to honor his legacy.
Louis was known for his strength, humility, and unwavering devotion to family. His life reflected perseverance, compassion, and quiet leadership, and he will be remembered for the love he gave and the example he set.
Louis Harper will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
