Lucille Virginia Hudson, aged 95, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on
August 22, 1929, in Alderson, West Virginia, to Mildred (Moody) and Ethel Hopkins, Lucille's life was a testament to
devotion, warmth, and resilience. She was a proud graduate of Bowling Green High School in Lewisburg, West Virginia,
and carried the values of her upbringing throughout her life.
Lucille dedicated her life to nurturing both her family and her community. She began her career as a devoted Sunday
school superintendent, imparting wisdom and faith to countless individuals. She served as a janitor at Shiloh Baptist
Church and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Eastern Stars. Later, she joined Camaco offering assistance
and eventually served with the American Red Cross. She retired from the Red Cross in 1990, leaving behind a legacy of
compassionate service that touched many lives.
Known for her feisty and witty demeanor, Lucille brought joy and laughter to those around her. She found pleasure in
watching her favorite soap operas, crafting beautiful pieces through her beloved Lu-Jack Creations business, and most of
all, embracing her role as a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Lucille was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Hudson Sr., and her sons, Randolph and Richard C.
Hudson Jr. Her siblings-Wanda Hopkins, Ethyl (Pauline) Williams, Glendolyn Edwards, Bobby, Ervin (Alberta), and John
(Mary) Hopkins-and her granddaughter, Rachelle Hudson, Danna Hines, daughter in law Jaqueline Hopkins, and
grandson David brooks.
She is survived by her brother, Billy Jene Hopkins; her children, Ronald Hopkins, Jacqueline Hudson, and Anthony Hudson
Sr.; along with her cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth (Byron) Horton, Melissa Hudson, Virginia Brooks, Carla Hudson,
Allison Hudson-Watters, Charlton Smith, Anthony (Erica) Hudson Jr., Cherron Hudson, James Lewis, Ronald Hopkins Jr,
Heather Kimmons, Jenice Edmonds, Katie Hopkins, Angie Hopkins, Michelle (Chris) Wills and a host of
great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A heartfelt tribute is extended to Rubyann Hazell, Delia Hudson, and Diyona Hudson-Perry, whose love, care, and
devotion provided comfort and support to Lucille in her later years. Their kindness and dedication were a true testament
to the strong bonds of family and the depth of their love.
Her nurturing spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Lucille's legacy of love, strength, and
compassion will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
