Marcia Durroh

September 14, 1955 — April 20, 2025

Marcia Elaine Durroh was born on September 14, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio, to Daisy Kenney and Hulet Gates Jr. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the age of 69.

Marcia attended East High School in Columbus, Ohio. Chesapeake Lounge employed her as a cook. She later became employed as a Laborer at Laborers Local Union 423 for 17 years. She retired in 2005.

As a young child, Marcia attended Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined Triedstone under the leadership of Bishop Jerome H. Ross Sr. and remained a faithful member under Pastor Dale Tucker's leadership. At Triedstone, Marcia was a dedicated member of the Missionaries, loved serving at the Back to School Rallies, and enjoyed attending the Women’s Retreats.

Marcia was affectionately known by her grandchildren as “MawMaw”. She had a loving personality and a big, giving heart. She opened her house to all and would often babysit and care for others. She was an avid pool player with Gale’s Lady Hawks. She enjoyed listening to Blues music, going camping with friends, and socializing with others at the Canabar. She also frequently traveled to Alabama during the Summer. Her greatest joy in life was found in baking cakes and spending time with her family and friends.

Marcia was preceded in death by her son, Alonzo Kenney; father, Hulet Gates Jr.; mother, Daisy Kenney; husband, John Durroh Sr.; brother Larry Hines; and sisters Toya White and Gwendolyn Cody.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Lovando Kenney Sr. and Craig Kenney, 8 grandsons, Joshua Kenney, De’Ante Revere, Lovando Kenney Jr., Tylen-Isaiah Gordon, Demetrius Kenney, Isaiah Kenney, Antonio Ingram, Anthony Owensby, 6 granddaughters, Jordan Weems, Janiyah Kenney, Shenda Amos, Brookelynn Kenney, Cheri Jackson, LaSha Moon, 5 sisters, Patricia Alexander, Florida, Gail Curtis (Charles), Donnetta Sellers, Susie Bonner (James) Birmingham, Alabama, Patricia Curry (Landon) Birmingham, Alabama, 2 brothers Hulet Gates III (Thelma Ogletree) Seattle, Washington, Charles Hines (the late Arnita) Birmingham, Alabama, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Marcia will also be fondly remembered by special friends Regina Hall, Aquanice-“Niccy” Chapman, Gail Barnett, Tammy Butler, Donisha Walker, Andrea Green, Fern Moore, and bonus daughter Rhonda Hall.

Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched. We love you, Marcia, and we will meet again.
