Margarett Louise Thomas

May 27, 1936 — September 14, 2025

Margarett Louise (Sutton) Thomas was born in Thomaston, Georgia, on May 27, 1936, to the late Roy Sutton, Sr. and Fannie (Knight) Sutton. The eldest of five children, Margarett moved with her family to Columbus, Ohio, at a young age.

Margarett departed this life on September 14, 2025.

She received her education through the Columbus Public School System. After graduation, Margarett met the love of her life, Bradley Thomas, and started her career with American Electric Power. While she appreciated her time at AEP, Margarett truly discovered her calling when she began selling Avon— a pursuit that became her lifelong passion.

Known throughout the west side of Columbus as the “Avon Queen,” Margarett dedicated much of her adult life to the company. Her enthusiasm and commitment led her to become a director, where she mentored several individuals under her leadership. Margarett’s outstanding achievements included winning numerous sales competitions, earning multiple awards, and enjoying several incentive trips.

Margarett will be remembered for her entrepreneurial spirit, her devotion to family and community, and the lasting impact she made on all who knew her. She grew up in a household where faith was central and attending church was a given. As a child, Margarett regularly attended Trinity Baptist Church, a tradition that instilled in her strong values and a commitment to service that she carried throughout her life.

Margarett’s most recent place of worship was Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where she found great joy in the music and cherished listening to Pastor Roderick Peeks Sr.

In addition to her parents, Margarett was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bradley Thomas Jr.; her brothers, Joseph Sutton and Roy Sutton Jr.; her brother-in-law, Joseph Washington; and her nephew, Todd M Sutton Sr.

She is survived by her brother Calvin Nona—Sutton, her sister Evelyn Washington, and her son Jefferey Thomas. Margarett also leaves to cherish her memory her nephews Calvin Victor Sutton, SR, Marty Sutton, Robert Rivers, Joseph Rivers, Roy Allen Sutton, and Stacy Sutton; her nieces Monica Wilks, Jodie DeShong, Erica Cobb, Brandy Bedford, and Roxanne Sutton; as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cherished friends.

Margarett’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
