Elder Mario Alden Broussard Sr.

November 16, 1958 — January 6, 2026

Mario Alden Broussard, Sr was born November 16, 1958 in Cincinnati, Ohio to John and Shirley Broussard. Mario was educated through the Mt. Vernon Academy, Columbus Public Schools and Oakwood University.Mario was an anointed Man of God with a calling on his life to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was baptized together with his mother at 9 years old and by the age of 15, he preached his very first sermon. Mario later became the Pastor of South Fountain SDA Church traveling to weekly Sabbath services and prayer meetings on Wednesday nights with his wife Wendy by his side. Mario proudly served as Head Elder at the Beacon of Hope SDA Church. He has baptized many and extended prayers of dedication for the young in Christ. Mario loved serving in church and his encouragement inspired many to answer the call to serve as elders and deacons. Partners in Ministry and Partners in Life, “The Broussards” loved to fellowship and would often open their home for bible study. Mario loved studying the Word of God, preaching and singing old hymns. He had a powerful voice, a love for music and a heart for Jesus. He enjoyed traveling and spending time among family and friends. Mario is preceded in death by his parents, John Broussard and Shirley Dowell; brother Maurice Broussard and Grandmother, Eloise Speaks.Mario leaves to cherish precious memories, his loving and caring wife Wendy Broussard; Sons Mario (Natasha) Broussard II, Brandon Broussard and Desmand (Brittany) Brown; Sister Marie Broussard; Step-sisters Andrea Angelle and Jennifer (Joe) Boxie; Brother Kevin (Flora) Dowell; Brothers-in-law John Turner, Patrick (Pam) Turner, Walter (Kimico) Turner, Tracy (Jackie) Turner; Sisters-in-law Dorothy Aaron, Janice Bostic, Denise Turner, Machelle Turner; Uncle Wyman (Betty) Johnson; Terri Pullens; Sherrie Johnson; grandchildren Declan and Journee Broussard, Symone Sims and Sebastian Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
