Marylyn Ilene (Applin) Tyler, 74, returned to glory on September 17, 2026, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, with her devoted sons by her side. She was born on May 24, 1952, in Springfield, Ohio, to Rev. Kenneth and Alice (Whitelow) Applin.
Marylyn graduated from Springfield South High School and worked as a healthcare aide. Throughout her life, she built a legacy centered on family, faith, hard work, service, creativity, and community. She was known for her generosity, kindness, beautiful sense of style, and warm spirit.
Marylyn found joy in sewing, entertaining, and cooking, especially making Christmas cookies and creating cherished memories with her family and friends. Her vibrant personality and love for others made her a "Social Butterfly" and "Ms. Hollywood."
Marylyn leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Stephen (Kyra) Tyler and Corey (Marquitta) Tyler; eight grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Honey": Stephi (Cassie) Tyler, Jordan Tyler, Sharon Tyler, Korrie Tyler, Kaleb Tyler, Antonette' (Christian) Weekly, Daniel Carruthers, and Corey Tyler, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Wanda (Henry) Oliver; her brother, James (Alverda) Applin; one aunt, Wanda Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, as well as two brothers, Rev. Kenneth Applin and Juan Applin.
Family and friends are invited to gather on October 2, 2026, at noon for a Celebration of Life Cookout at DEB's Celebration and Events Center, located at 5508 East Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232, in honor of Marylyn and the beautiful life she shared with those around her.
In celebration of Marylyn's favorite color and signature style, we ask that everyone wear a hue of burgundy and sunglasses as we come together to remember our beloved "Ms. Hollywood." Let's honor Marylyn with the same love, joy, and style that she brought into the lives of so many.
Marylyn's legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and togetherness will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her. Though she may no longer be with us in person, the memories she created and the love she gave will remain in our hearts forever.
Rest well, Marylyn, Honey, Aunt Marylyn, "Ms. Hollywood." Your social butterfly spirit will forever dance among us.
