Melvin Turner

September 28, 1977 — December 24, 2025

Melvin Turner Jr., lovingly known as “Pop,” was born on September 28, 1977, in Brooklyn, NY. He departed this life on December 24, 2025, in Cleveland, OH. A son whose presence could fill any room, Melvin lived a life marked by love, laughter, loyalty, and an unmistakable spirit that touched everyone blessed to know him.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Marvin Turner Sr, and his maternal grandparents Maggie Bovian and Ike More. He leaves to cherish his memory of his father, Melvin Turner Sr., and mother, Brenda Turner. His paternal grandmother, Frances Turner. His beloved sisters, Latricha - Tee Tee (Tyree) Bennett and Melvina Goren. Two nephews and one niece. Tyree Bennett Jr., Nazir Bennett, and Talia Bennett. As well as a large, loving family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who hold him close. Above all, his legacy will carry on with his only daughter, Da’Miya Turner, his “Princess,” the light of his life and the center of his world.

Pop was a loving, caring soul, someone who naturally gave of himself and made life easier for others. He had a gift for keeping things light-hearted, like his Daddy. Always ready with a joke, a laugh, or a playful “God damn’t” that became one of his signature sayings. His presence was unforgettable: a gentle giant with a warm smile, a booming voice, and a way of pointing his finger at you that somehow felt like both a warning and a hug.

He had a deep love for old-school cars, making beats, and gaming. His legacy is rooted in authenticity: stay true to yourself, be honest, be respectful, and love people while you can. These were not just lessons he spoke—they were lessons he passed to his daughter and lessons he lived. His memory will forever echo in the stories told about him, the laughter he sparked, the music he created, and the love he poured into his family.

Pop’s family shares special acknowledgements to: His friends and lifelong brothers, Adrian Cobb, Dewayne Ross, Derrick Cameron (Dino), and Tyron Clark ( Streets). His best friend and the mother of his daughter, Dawniece Ross (Sissy). His loving life partner, Vanessa Pendleton.
