Mildred S. Carter

September 5, 1957 - August 3, 2026

Mildred S. Carter transitioned to Glory Monday, August 3, 2026. Mildred was born

September 5, 1957 in Malden, MA to the late Rev. Percy Allen Carter and Evelyn

Beatrice (High) Carter.

Mildred graduated from Marion Franklin High School before studying art at Columbus

State Community College. Mildred grew up in Boston, MA, Newport RI, Providence RI,

Mansfield, OH and Columbus Ohio. After that, her love of driving led her to a career in

the transportation industry driving various individuals throughout the city of Columbus

and surrounding areas.

Mildred was a devoted and faithful member of the Hosack Street Baptist Church. Some

of her many activities include Do Rae Me Shape note singers (vocal union), Usher

board, Vacation Bible School, Hosack Women's Ministry, the Eastern Union Missionary

Baptist Association and several other organizations.

Mildred loved God, Family and Church.

One of her favorite sayings on her voicemail was: "Hello my dear friends."

Mildred never forgot to call and wish everyone Happy Birthday every year. To say she

loved Hosack is putting it mildly. She loved this Church unconditionally.

Favorite: If I can help somebody as I pass along then my living shall not be in vain.

Mildred's presence shall be missed by many, especially the Usher board because she

loved ushering. Knowing she made a difference in so many young people's lives while

on the Usher board meant the world to her. She loved leading those young people.

Mildred leaves behind a legacy of deep love, endless patience and devotion to family.

Her home was always open and guidance will continue to live in the hearts of all she

loved. She walked through life leaving a trail of quiet grace and steadfast strength.

Please keep her daughter Shellie R. Carter in your hearts and prayers. Losing a mother

is one of the hardest things to deal with.

Our family would like to thank everyone for their condolences, monetary gifts, flowers

and any other acts of kindness expressed to us during this time. We also thank you for

your continued prayers.

Rejoice in knowing I know longer am suffering nor in pain. My work here is done and I

am at peace. My flesh is no longer present as I rest in the arms of God eternally.

Special thank you to the membership of the Hosack Baptist Church and Pastor

Morehead and Pastor Goff. And the many other churches in and around Ohio. Along

with a special thank you to Marlan Gary Funeral Home and staff.

Mildred loved everyone and she loved being a servant of God.

Predeceased by her parents, Rev. Percy Allen. Carter and Evelyn Beatrice (High)

Carter. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter - Shellie R. Carter; siblings -

Allen Carter, Audrey Hutchings, Mark Carter (fraternal twin), and Daniel (Deborah)

Carter; Mildred leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles

along with many, many cousins in Arizona, Nova Scotia, Canada, California, Virginia,

Nevada, Ohio, North Carolina, Massachusetts and Nova Scotia, Canada. Mildred will be

missed by special friends: Betty Abbott, Helena Brown, Clara Tucker, Gail Hatten

and Cynthia Soward. And a host of members and friends of Hosack Street Baptist

Church.

You will be missed.
