Mildred A. Matthias

Jun 13, 1952 — Sep 19, 2026

Mildred Matthias was born on June 14, 1952, to Paulino and Marie Rojas. She was blessed with nine siblings. Mildred attended George Washington Elementary School and graduated from Charlotte Amalie High School. Mildred married her first husband Volmie, and together they were blessed with four beautiful daughters. She later married Elroy Matthias.

Mildred spent a significant amount of time at home as a young child, where she learned to cook. After graduating from high school, she worked at a beading factory for many years and later used her cooking skills in several businesses, including Frenchie’s Catering, Point Pleasant and Stuffer’s Grand Hotels. Her love for cooking was reflected in the delicious meals she prepared, especially arroz con pollo and chicken soup. Cooking was one of the many ways she expressed her love for her family and others.

Mildred enjoyed doing puzzles, watching game shows and soap operas. She had a special love for children and devoted much of her life to caring for them. She lovingly cared for her nine grandchildren so her children could work and attend school, and she also cared for many children of family members and friends.

After the passing of her husband, Mildred lived with her sister, Maggie, for ten years. She was a devoted Christian who faithfully prayed for her family and friends. She believed in sharing the Word of God and making a difference in the lives of others. In 2023, Mildred relocated to be with her daughter, Natasha.

During her final days, Mildred was surrounded by her daughters, sister, grandchildren, sons-in-law, nephew, and niece. Mildred leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord.
