“The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.” -Psalm 29:11 NKJV Monica Lynn “Ms. Redd” Kirkling was born on November 29, 1964, in Columbus, Ohio to Mike and Gloria Kirkling. She gained her wings on March 23, 2026 surrounded by her loving daughters who always stood by her side.
Monica lived a life anchored in Christian faith, overflowing with love, and strength. Her journey was a testimony of perseverance and grace. She overcame cancer twice, meeting each battle with unwavering courage and belief that God was with her every step of the way. Monica graduated from Northland Highschool in 1982. She spent her life dedicated to caring for those around her. Working in nursing homes and volunteering in CDC Head start in 1998. She had a special love for skating and eventually became an employee at the rink in 2005.
Monica is preceded in death by her father, Mike Kirkling Jr., and life-long companion, Kelvin Wayne “Bo” Jenkins. She leaves behind her beloved daughters: Lakale, Kelly (Devin), and Joi. Grandchildren: Dellvon, KyRae, KyLynn, Dayilah and Jakobi. Monica is also survived by her loving mother, Gloria, and her brothers Mike, Craig (Drema), and Eric. Her cherished nieces Kyra (Franklin), Maya, and MiKayla and great-nieces Keziah and Kamya.
Monica was a mother-figure to many throughout the course of her life, including but not limited to bonus daughter Keiana (and children), Caring, Chantalle’, and Dejanee. She also leaves behind a host of beloved skate family, who always made sure she was taken care of each Sunday night.
Monica leaves behind her childhood friends, Jackie White, Denise Crowder, Lisa Pimento, and others. Monica was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to laugh and was appreciative for the little things in life. She was a confidant, caregiver, and woman marked by her strength.
She lived a life full of love and devotion for her daughters, grandchildren, nieces, and many more. She was a fighter who fought till the end. Monica was adored by many and leaves behind a lasting legacy of love.
