Myrna Joyce Bunch-Cantrell

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Myrna J. Bunch-Cantrell fondly known as Duchess, 75, of Pickerington, Ohio, announces her peaceful passing on June 27, 2026.

Born on December 20, 1950 in Columbus, Ohio, Myrna will be remembered for her sense of humor, having no "filter" and the laughter she brought to those around her. She had a quick wit and a playful way of teasing the people she loved, always ready with a funny remark or a knowing smirk. She showed her love in a way that only she could.

Myrna enjoyed her routines, her favorite comfy spot, a cup of coffee or glass of Pepsi, and Peppermint Patties. She had a passion for her favorite daily "stories". Her family often joked that no one dared to interrupt the house when her favorite soap operas, the Young & the Restless, Bold & Beautiful, and Beyond the Gates, on "Channel 10" were on! She also enjoyed judge shows, especially Judge Judy and Judge Mathis. Classic shows such as Murder She Wrote, Columbo, and the Jefferson's were her favorites to stream.

When the television was off, she was armed with a lottery bible and a daily pick for the “numbers”. She also loved playing bingo and taking trips to the casino. She had a special appreciation for life’s simple pleasures such as reading. She had hundreds of books in all different types of genres. In her younger years, you could often find her sewing, crocheting and working on crossword or jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed the quiet satisfaction of creating something with her hands or piecing things together one step at a time.

Myrna spent most of her life being a homemaker. However, she had a brief stint at the Ohio Department of Motor Vehicles and began studying at Franklin University. At the urging of her close friends and family, in the 1970s, Myrna attended and graduated from the Barbizon School of Modeling. As a result, she was chosen to become the featured model for the “New You” weekly special segment during the noon news on WBNS 10TV. This was a proud accomplishment for her.

Above all, Myrna's true jackpot was her family. She was the pragmatic and dramatic matriarch who always made her family laugh and shake their heads. She was a mother of three, grandmother of nine, and the great-grandmother of nine.

Myrna is survived by her daughter Mitziken H. (Carl Anthony) Dunn, her son’s Milland K. Cantrell and Mandel H. Cantrell, and her brother Milan K. (Evons E.) Bunch. Also survived by her granddaughters Alaina S. Perry, Nataya T. Cantrell, Mikehl T. Dunn, Mataiya K. Cantrell, Denaije L. Cantrell, and grandsons Milland K. Cantrell Jr., Tazhian C. Dunn, Mandel H. Cantrell Jr., and Dominic E. Cantrell. As well as her great-grandchildren.

She also is survived by a wide circle of extended family and friends. This includes nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends Donna Webb and Frankie Lynn Coleman.

She was preceded in death by her supportive and loving husband, Homer Cantrell; parents Flora B. and Louis K. Bunch, brother Monte M. Bunch, sister Melanie J. Kelso, and niece Monta M. Kelso.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 2pm. Family and friends are invited to gather at 1pm to share stories, laugh, and honor her one of a kind spirit.
