Patricia Ann (Pat) Powell, of Columbus, Ohio, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 25, 1936, to Frank Bragg (Deceased) and Arletta Darden (Deceased), peacefully passed away at age 89 on June 1, 2026. Pat was also preceded in death by her husband, John Walter Powell, Sr., their only son, John (Johnny) Walter Powell, Jr., and her four siblings (Herman, Martha, Jeanetta and John).

Patricia was a devoted member of Christ Memorial Baptist Church, where her faith guided her commitment to serving others. She dedicated her life to public service, civic engagement, and community leadership as a lifelong and devoted Super Democrat. Pat was an active member of the Executive Committee of the Franklin County Democratic Party for more than 30 years (until her passing). She played an important role on the Screening Committee and the Racial Equity Committee and served faithfully as an Elected Ward Committee Woman in Franklin County. Patricia was honored to be selected as a Lifetime Member and respected leader of the Franklin County Democratic Women's Club while serving as both President and Vice-President. For many years, she was a dedicated member of the Board of Federated Democratic Women of Ohio, where she endeavored tirelessly to advance civic participation and leadership opportunities for women. She also served for more than 20 years as a seasonal clerk with the Franklin County Board of Elections, first as a Precinct Election Official and later at the Early Vote Center, helping ensure fair, accessible, and efficient elections for the citizens of Franklin County.

Patricia's commitment to strengthening democracy extended beyond party leadership, which further reflects her lifelong commitment to empowerment, advocacy, and service. She proudly served as a member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), the first national coalition of African American women's organizations. Pat was also a Board Member of Impact Community Action, supporting programs that improved the quality of life for individuals and families and helped to strengthen opportunities for underserved members of the community. She also serves on the Board of the Seniors Tech Conference, advocating for access to technology, digital inclusion, and opportunities that help older adults remain connected, independent, and engaged.

Truly, Patricia leaves a legacy of passionate and unwavering dedication to serving her church, community, and causes she believed in. Her service will have an enduring and memorable impact on all the lives she met, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
