Patricia Naomi Brown (Barkley) was born on April 20th , 1951, in Johnson City, TN to Etha and Jesse Barkley. At the age of 5, the family moved to Columbus, OH.
She and her mother joined Old First Presbyterian Church where they were the very first African Americans to integrate that church. She attended Fair Avenue Elementary School; she went on to Franklin Junior High School and graduated in 1969 from East High School where she was a majorette for the East High School Marching Band.
Family knew her as Trish, friends called her Pat. But no matter what she was called, “Sweet” and was probably the most descriptive. Everyone who knew her would describe her as such. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Maybe she can put in a good word for Dem Boys!
Trish enjoyed travelling with her husband and friends, cruises, and casinos, you name it. She enjoyed cooking (oh my! the many, many cookbooks) and made the best apple pie I have ever tasted! She was a faithful member of Old First Presbyterian Church and was always available when ever anyone needed her, even if it was just to talk.
Trish/Pat was preceded in death by her dad, Jesse Barkley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Anthony Brown; daughter, Angela Barkley; son, Brandon Barkley; grandson, Jordan (Estphanye) Barkley; daughter in love, Christina Naphier; mother, Etha Barkley; sister, Crystal (Vernon) Strain; brother, James (Bobbie) Barkley and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews and friends.
Rest in peace thy good and faithful servant!
