With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude for a life well-lived, the family of Paul Howard Northcutt announced his peaceful passing on September 29, 2026, at the age of 80. Born in Decherd, Tennessee on July 8, 1946 to the late Eugene & Orene Northcutt. Paul spent most of his life growing up in Elyria, OH before relocating his family to Columbus, OH in 2005. Paul's journey was marked by faith, perseverance, and a deep love for his family and community.
Paul and the love of his life, Lorene, have had a long-standing relationship with the Triedstone family going back as far as the early 1980's. Paul led by example, serving faithfully and uplifting others through his steadfast devotion to God and to his church. Paul was elevated to the position of senior Deacon in October 2025.
Paul was the devoted husband of Lorene Northcutt, sharing a partnership rooted in love and mutual respect for 43 years. Affectionately known as "Paw-Paw", he was the proud and caring father of: Willie Dwayne (Sharon) Nettles, Craig Lamar (Fran) Nettles, Paul-Michael Eugene (Paris) Northcutt, Derek Marquis Northcutt, Cythina Elaine (Juan) Whitner, Yvette Marie Nettles, Suzanne Lynette Huddleston, Amber Orene Northcutt and Jaylyn Renee Northcutt and a bonus son; Anthony Harper. Always finding joy in the company of his growing family, he also cherished his role as grandfather and great-grandfather to 20 grandchildren and 32 great- grandchildren respectively, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A true entrepreneur at heart, Paul devoted more than 30 years to successfully establishing and managing diverse sectors. One major venture was the founding of L&P Cleaning Service, named after his wife and himself. He was guided by integrity, hard work, and a spirit of service.
His love of sports was evident in every aspect of his life. As a gifted athlete, Paul excelled in baseball, basketball, and track and field, and was a proud member of The Lorain Black AC/Incrowders softball team from 1975 to 1980, helping the team secure an extraordinary five consecutive championships. In recognition of his athletic achievements and community impact, Paul was most recently inducted into the Lorain Sports Hall of Fame on May 9, 2026-a testament to his enduring legacy.
Paul found deep joy in simple pleasures: watching old western movies, cheering on his favorite teams, and, above all, spending treasured moments with his wife and family. His faith was the cornerstone of his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Eugene and Orene (Winton) Northcutt; his brother, William (Mary) Northcutt; daughter, Carla Renee Nettles (Virgies) and sisters, Henrietta (Jim) France and Kay Hicks.
Paul's memory will live on as a beacon of faith, love, and perseverance. We rejoice in the promise of eternal life, knowing he rests in the arms of the Lord he so faithfully served.
